Creating Happy Travelers
Yatra has become one of India’s best-known travel platforms by serving both leisure travelers and large corporate clients from a single digital system. Founded in 2006 by Dhruv Shringi, Manish Amin, and Sabina Chopra, the company launched with a clear goal: make researching and booking trips simpler. It soon added mobile booking, cash-on-delivery, and India’s first online ticket-cancellation service.
Over the next years, the company bought a number of other firms. It took over TSI, Magicrooms, BuzzInTown, and Travelguru. During that same time, it also pushed its B2B side. The parent company moved to Nasdaq in 2016. Later, the Indian unit began trading on the NSE and the BSE in 2023.
Yatra is based in Gurugram. Today, it serves over 1,300 big corporate clients. It also works with many tens of thousands of SMEs and travel agents. In June 2021, Yatra teamed up with Oyo, Airbnb, and EaseMyTrip. Together, they set up CHATT, a group meant to back tourism. The focus is on smaller operators.
Its services span domestic and international flights, one of India’s largest hotel inventories, holiday packages, trains, buses, cabs, and MICE. Corporate clients use RECAP, an AI expense system that scans receipts, accepts voice entries, and enforces policy rules. Consumers earn eCash rewards or subscribe to Yatra Prime for fee waivers and priority support.
The standout AI tool is DIYA, a generative assistant available in over 100 languages. Users describe trips in plain language—including complex multi-city routes—and DIYA builds full itineraries, books flights and hotels, handles cancellations, and even analyses landmark photos for travel insights.
After two decades, Yatra continues pairing strong corporate relationships with AI that turns complicated travel planning into a smoother, more conversational experience.
