For all breeds & needs
Pooch & Mutt was founded in 2007 by Guy Blaskey, whose dog Cookie was dealing with joint problems at the time. He had an odd bit of luck going for him, though: his family already ran a horse feed business built around joint-support supplements for horses. Blaskey took that formula and reworked it for dogs, and out of that came two products, Bionic Biotic and Mobile Bones, both still sitting on shelves under the Pooch & Mutt name today.
From there, things just kept broadening out into treats, dry kibble, wet food, all leaning on the same basic idea: what a dog eats can genuinely shape its digestion, joint health, skin, even temperament. Ownership didn’t change hands in one clean sweep either. Czech manufacturer VAFO Group picked up a minority stake back in 2020, pushed that to 40% by 2022, then took full control by buying the remaining 60% in July 2023. Pooch & Mutt kept its own name and identity through all of it.
The growth numbers since then are honestly pretty strong: 74% sales growth in 2023, 61% the year after, another 38% in 2025. Early 2025 brought a notable acquisition too: BIOME9, a gut health testing company, which now lets customers run an at-home microbiome test on their dog and get a supplement plan built around the results. Not many competitors in this space offer that. Around the same stretch came the brand’s first-ever TV campaign, starring Stacey Solomon, followed later by a rebrand built around the line “For All Breeds & Needs.”
Pooch & Mutt now operates across both pet nutrition and pet health, a broader scope than its original supplement-only start.
