Dr. Mary Jane Minkin is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist. She helps patients with menopause, reproductive health, and sexual health in cancer survivors. She is a physician at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut and has more than 40 years of private clinical practice. At her clinic, Madame Ovary provides scientific information on menopause, hormonal health, and women’s wellness.
Dr. Minkin is co-director of the Sexuality, Intimacy, and Menopause Program at Smilow Cancer Hospital, which is a pioneering program in the US to focus on sexual health issues in cancer survivors.
Dr. Minkin has made significant contributions to female health education. She is a writer and co-author of several peer-reviewed articles and has authored several books, like ‘A Woman’s Guide to Menopause and Perimenopause,’ ‘A Woman’s Guide to Sexual Health,’ and ‘The Yale Guide to Women’s Reproductive Health.’ She focuses on the translation of medical knowledge into practical advice for women of various ages.
She has been awarded the Irving Friedman Award of Excellence in Patient Care, the Francis Gilman Blake Award of Outstanding Teaching, and several awards from national organizations of excellence in teaching. She has also been called a top doctor by Connecticut Magazine and her contributions to the healthcare of women were recognized by the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame.
Dr. Minkin is well known figure in the media and popular education. She has appeared in several renowned magazines like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, and NPR, and has worked as a women’s health advisor in Prevention magazine. Her site and media have kept patients informed about menopause, sexual health, and gynecologic care.
