We Make Tech for Good
3 Sided Cube was founded in 2009 in Bournemouth, England, originally trading as Chelsea Apps before it became the studio known today. From the start the pitch has stayed consistent: build technology that actually matters, done in-house, with no outsourcing or mystery dev teams handing the work behind the scenes. The company calls itself “Tech for Good,” building mobile apps and web platforms for organizations working in blood donation, disaster response, climate science, and humanitarian aid, alongside more mainstream clients wanting the same standard of engineering.
That client list has grown to include the American Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, UNHCR, the NHS, Vodafone, and Glastonbury Festival, plus government bodies like Coventry City Council. The company reports its software has reached more than 25 million people directly, been downloaded over 100 million times across more than 87 countries, and facilitated 19 million blood donations through its platforms. It has also sent out more than a billion life-saving notifications and helped raise over $32 million for humanitarian causes.
Recognition has followed the work: a Webby Award, an Anthem Award, a Lovie Award, and a UK App Award all sit among the accolades. 3 Sided Cube now runs offices in Bournemouth, London, Washington, D.C., and Florida, and the team, still describing itself informally as “Cube,” has leaned into AI more recently, building what it calls an AI-native workflow with agents that test, monitor, and patch software around the clock rather than waiting for scheduled reviews.
Under CEO Duncan Cook, the studio’s stated mission has stayed the same since the Chelsea Apps days: build software that saves lives, shakes up systems, and drives change, rather than software built just to exist.
