Sportsafe started in 1997 as a two-person operation, and more than 25 years on, it’s grown into a nationwide team of over 60 staff. The business is headquartered in Colchester, with regional offices in Wigan and Cumbernauld (Glasgow), plus engineer hubs in Daventry and Newport, a spread deliberate enough that the company says no customer is ever more than 90 minutes from one of its engineers.

What Sportsafe does has stayed fairly consistent even as the scale has grown: supply, installation, inspection, and ongoing maintenance of sports, fitness, and play equipment, covering everything from gymnastics mats and basketball goals to climbing frames, sports hall flooring, and outdoor surfacing. The idea is to take the whole lifecycle off a customer’s hands rather than leaving them to coordinate separate suppliers for each stage. That customer base is substantial, with over 10,000 sites across Great Britain, including schools, multi-academy trusts, universities, and leisure centers, plus contracts with more than 100 county councils and public sector bodies, including the NHS, police, fire services, and the military.

Ownership sits within ABEO, a global sports and recreation group, which gives Sportsafe backing beyond its own UK footprint while it keeps its own brand and day-to-day operations. The company runs its work around six stated core values, Trust, Integrity, Pride, Quality, Enjoyment & Passion, and Respect, and points to operational detail as a differentiator: accurately logged inspections, minimized drive time between jobs, and quotes and remedial work scheduled quickly enough that customers aren’t left waiting.
