Michael Moncur and his wife Kirsty started 121 Office Furniture around 15 years ago, launching their first website when online office furniture was still a fairly young market. It did well enough that they set up a limited company, and about two years later a sister site, 121 Home Furniture, followed. The business is still small and family-run, operating from an industrial estate in Cumbernauld, Scotland.

The aim hasn’t changed since the beginning: good products at fair prices, with real people on the phone before and after a sale. Michael and Kirsty still describe customer service as the reason the business has grown, and they point to their Trustpilot reviews and the number of repeat customers as proof.

The range has grown with the business. Chairs are the biggest category, from mesh and leather managers’ chairs to more specialist options such as bariatric seats, chairs rated for over 23 stone, 24-hour chairs, chiropractor-approved models, and gaming chairs. Desks include straight, L-shaped, narrow, and sit-stand designs, plus desk-and-pedestal bundles. Filing cabinets, pedestals, bookcases, and cupboards handle storage, and there’s reception furniture such as sofas, armchairs, stacking chairs, and café-style bistro sets. A home office section covers people working from a spare room rather than an office.
