Train & Travel Simplified

Known as one of India’s most prominent travel platforms, ixigo built its business around a segment most global OTAs largely overlooked: train travelers in India’s smaller cities. Legally registered as Le Travenues Technology Limited, the company was founded in Gurugram in 2006 by Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar.

It launched first as a travel metasearch engine before growing into a full booking platform over time. The company went public on the Indian stock exchanges in June 2024, with its IPO oversubscribed roughly 98 times, shares debuting at a 48.5% premium over the issue price, and the offering raising around ₹740 crore.

Ownership never shifted between larger conglomerates the way it has for some travel companies. ixigo grew mainly through its own acquisitions instead. In 2021, it acquired ConfirmTkt, a train ticketing and prediction platform, along with AbhiBus, a bus ticketing and fleet management service, both of which now operate under the same corporate structure as the flagship ixigo brand. In October 2024, it also acquired a majority stake in Zoop India, a platform for ordering food on trains, extending the in-journey experience beyond the booking itself.

Today, ixigo mainly focuses on trains. It also covers flights and buses. Hotels, car rentals, travel insurance, and visa support come next, like side options.

This train-first idea is clear in tools other apps often skip. There is live train tracking. There is also a PNR confirmation prediction. Users can get station arrival alerts. The app even has AR coach position tools. ixigo also has two protection plans, ixigo Assured and Abhi Assured. These include free cancellations and instant refund handling.

In the last two years, the company has leaned more on AI. Most of that is in PNR prediction models and in recommendations made for each user. In October 2025, Prosus joined in as a strategic investor. It bought a 10.1% stake. This was its first bet in a listed Indian company. The move was meant to help speed up the company’s AI work.

Alongside this, the app also offers help for cancellations, refunds, and rebooking. The product keeps refining the same main idea it started with almost twenty years ago. The tools behind it are far more advanced now.
